Its been raining for 2 days straight now it’s so annoying. I have waterproof panniers but still my stuff inside gets soaked from opening and taking stuff out. My overshoes have been put in the bin. For the record don’t buy Altura overshoes. They say they are waterproof but my feet beg to differ. I bought better ones by BBB when we passed through Bielefied.
All my stuff is somehow covered in little sticks and leaves and my Mp3 player is broken from the rain. It’s hard to keep yourself dry when your outside all the time. You can’t exactly hang up your clothes to dry overnight when it’s raining either. We had a hard time cycling to Bad Oeynhausen and I was so cold when we got there I thought I was going to die unless I got in a warm bed. So we got a hotel for the night.
Cycled to Hanover today and the rain held off for us. I noticed on the map that there was a canal path going right across Germany and into Hanover and we could join it about 20km North. It was a bit bumpy in places and not very interesting. The only thing that changed was the songs on my phone, of which there was only 20, played on loop for 4 hours. This is pretty much the view of today.
Was really glad to get to Hanover. Cycled around 100km to get there, mostly on this. Staying with Antonia here who offered to host us on CouchSurfing and I’m so glad she did. Shes a great host and even made us dinner despite her lack of cooking knowledge!
