I’ve been quite busy here in Berlin: Visiting museums, checking out the malls, seeing all the sights. It’s a pretty cool city. For some reason there’s graffiti absolutely everywhere you look. There’s a good subway and train and tram system for getting around but it’s also pretty easy on a bike. The roads are not that busy. Last night we sneaked onto the trains and went to Fete de la
Musique, a music festival all over the city. It was a massive gathering of hippie people all getting wasted and listening to some pretty terrible music. But hey it was fun. After we went to a dodgy club called the Golden Gate or something. Apparently there’s a lot of clubs closing down here because they can’t afford the higher rent but this place is fine because it’s under a railway bridge and looks like crap. It was good crazy electro music, with cheap beer but don’t order a rum and coke it’ll cost you 6 Euros!
Somehow I got out of bed this morning. It took me 3 hours just to get out of the city it’s that big and full of traffic lights. I was supposed to cycle about 45 miles to the border of Poland but for some reason the road said no bikes so I had to take a detour and never made it to the border. I camped in Markische Schweiz, a natural park east of Berlin. I think it’s the most peaceful place I’ve been in Germany…I saw one car in 4 hours.
